Medical Monitoring Equipment for Anuradhapura Hospital

Vision

  • To aid the development of Emergency Medicine in Sri Lanka by financial support through charitable ventures.
  • To purchase equipment necessary for the practice of provision of emergency medicine and critical care.
  • To demonstrate one system of carrying out charitable work and provide encouragement for others to do the same in their own capacity.
  • Why hospital equipment?

After working in the “medical” wards of many peripheral hospitals in Sri Lanka it is clear there is a lack of monitoring equipment which impacts patient care, morbidity and mortality. Equipment most in need are -

  • Cardiac and O2 saturation Monitors
  • Portable Ventilators
  • Why Anuradhapura Hospital?

Dr. Rajapakse works there and therefore knows that the need is real. He has been previously approached by the hospital Director to see if equipment could be donated. He can personally make sure the donations are put to good use since he has done a basic monitoring equipment inventory and needs assessment.

Anuradhapura Hospital is a large peripheral hospital with 1600 beds and 4 General medical wards. It has a large workload, being close to a conflict zone, and poorly resourced compared to Colombo hospitals.

    Equipment Goal

Our goal for this project is to acquire 4 New Mindray Cardiac monitors (MEC - 1000, China) each estimated to cost Rs 250,000. This will help us to provide one new monitor for each medical ward.

Anuradhapura hospital has 2 male and 2 female medical wards (each 50-100 inpatients). Each ward has 1 working monitor and 1 partially working monitor. If we achieve this goal this would mean that every ward will have 2 working cardiac and BP/Sats capable monitors.

In addition to this we would like to raise money for stand alone O2 sats monitors and BP Cuffs which are also in dire need.

    How to donate?

Please visit our donation details page for more information.

Your name will appear on the letter of donation to the hospital for each monitor to each ward (regardless of your donation).

We may look at other ways of acknowledgement in the future (especially for significant donations of over Rs 50,000, or stand alone items of equipment by a personal donor).
